Beaune, France (18:44 GMT+1)

Chilly early morning tasting in Meursault; rich but lively whites. A cloudy gray drive south to Rully to taste crémants. Further south to Givry for a warming lunch of sole and soup a l’oignon. Quick tasting in town with a tiny domaine; crackling strawberry reds. Back north through the vines to Chassagne for the day’s final tasting - elegant, opulent, stunning white Burgundies; a reminder of Chardonnay’s potential, and terroir’s importance. Dinner tonight at Ma Cuisine.
